My name is Emily Zaplatosch, and I am one of the academic liaisons for the Pitt DPT Class of 2022. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, I moved to Pittsburgh in 2016 to attend the University of Pittsburgh and earn a degree in Rehabilitation Science with a Certificate in Pathokinesiology. During my time as an undergraduate student, I had the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of inpatient and outpatient therapy settings, participate in concussion-related research, and work on the ice with a children’s adaptive sled-hockey league. These experiences have fueled my passion for physical therapy and the rewarding effects it can have on individuals’ lives. I entered PT school with a strong interest in pediatric and vestibular therapy but intend to explore as many specialties as possible to discover where my passions truly lie. I look forward to working as part of the team that improves the lives of people with injuries and disabilities by helping them regain functionality and independence. I am thankful to be a member of the Pitt DPT Program as it will allow me to explore these various interests with the assistance of experienced clinical instructors, expert academic faculty, and supportive peers.
