Hello, my name is Emily Bjanes, and I am from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I graduated from the University of Maryland in 2016 with a degree in Kinesiology. I first became interested in physical therapy when I tore my meniscus in high school from a gymnastics injury. My physical therapist was able to help me get back to competition without surgery in just a few months. Then at the University of Maryland I was able to join an outreach program that put on gymnastics performances at elementary and middle schools in the D.C. and Maryland area to promote healthy living and a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. It is because of physical therapy that I was able to continue doing gymnastics in college and participate in the things I love to do. I am extremely excited to be a DPT student at Pitt and learn how I can best help my patients return to the things in their life that they love to do and live their lives to their fullest potential.
