Hello, my name is Jason Ewing and it is both an honor and a privilege to serve as one of the PPTA liaisons for the class of 2017. I received my undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock University with a BS in Exercise Science. Since the day of my graduation I have been certified as a Health and Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine and have my CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. With this degree, along with these added certifications I pursued a career as the Director of Healthy Living and a personal trainer for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh. After working with hundreds of clients from every demographic and background, I decided that working as the “middle man” in a world full of potential and current rehab patients I was missing one key element, a license to practice Physical Therapy. I spent three years reevaluating my role in the health care field and came to the conclusion that it was necessary for me to continue my education and pursue a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Living in the great city of Pittsburgh it is no secret that some of the best health care programs and facilties exist here. Therefore, the ONLY choice for me was the University of Pittsburgh, given that it is without a doubt the top institution in the all of Pennsylvania, and one of the top three programs in the country. I have since realized that Pitt’s DPT program offers a didactic curriculum that is taught by some of the most highly accredited and respected clinicians in the business. I look forward to taking my education from this outstanding program and applying my knowledge, skills and abilities to improve the quality of health care that this great city has already established.
