Hi! My name is Becky Slater and I am from West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science and a certificate in Pathokinesiology of Rehabilitation. I initially chose to pursue a career in physical therapy (PT) because of my experience as a patient with a knee injury. When I was 15, I tore my meniscus and had to undergo surgery followed by PT. I formed a strong relationship with my physical therapists and fell in love with the profession. My true interest is working with children and I hope to someday work in pediatrics with the goal of making a difference in children’s’ lives just as they have touched my life along this journey. I have always wanted a career in which I can work one-on-one with patients, be hands-on in their care, observe their progress, and make a difference in their lives. What better profession than physical therapy to achieve all of my goals?
