My name is Jim Tersak and I am the president of the University of Pittsburgh DPT Class of 2020. I am a Pittsburgh native, but I graduated from Penn State University in 2017 with a degree in Kinesiology; Movement Science. Now, I am back in the Pittsburgh area at the wonderful University of Pittsburgh pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. My initial contact with Physical Therapy occurred in my freshman year of high school after I had my first surgery to repair a torn labrum in my right shoulder. My experience continued after my 2nd and 3rd shoulder surgeries to repair my left labrum and my right labrum again. I became interested in the Physical Therapy career during my time at Penn State and since then I have gained most of my experience in several outpatient orthopedic sites including UPMC and Phoenix Rehabilitation clinics. My interests include orthopedic physical therapy and sports medicine. I hope to take the skills that I acquire at Pitt and apply them in a professional setting in a way that creates a positive influence on my patients, coworkers, and profession as a whole.
